travel like we do > Africa > South Africa > Top things to do in Cape Town during Summer

Cape Town is one of the beautiful cities I have ever seen. It’s so diverse one can spend days exploring just the city. We got the opportunity to be in Cap Town, thanks to my brother. We visited Cape Town during summer and that means we got the longest time to explore the city. Summer in Cape Town is from November to February and the weather is just perfect to enjoy.

Here are our Top things to do in Cape Town in Summer

Chapmans Peak

Chapmans Peak is one of our favourite in Cape Town. You can either drive pass the road or stay back to enjoy the sunset. You will get a beautiful view of the city from up here. Chapmans peak drive is free if you are coming from Noodhoek.

Table Mountain

Table Mountain is the perfect place to see sunset if you are visiting Cape Town in Summer. It is open till 8pm in the evening, grab a picnic basket and some drinks to enjoy the sunset view during summer. Most importantly Table Mountain is a natural world heritage site, and Natural New 7 Wonder of the World. One can either take the cable car to reach the top and explore or hike up the mountain. The entry fee drops post 1pm and also be prepared to stand in a long queue for the cable car.

Bo-Kaap

Bo-Kaap neighbourhood used to be slaves residences, painted white and leased to the slaves. Post freedom all the row houses were painted in different bright colours as an expression of independence. You need to definitely visit Bo-kaap area for some serious instagram worthy photos.

Rhodes Memorial

Rhodes Memorial is at Devil’s Peak in Cape Town. It was made in honour of South African politician Cecil Rhodes. It is resembled in greek temple architecture. If you are in Cape Town, you must visit Rhodes Memorial Restaurant for breakfast. The city view from here is breathtaking.

Cape Of Good Hope

Cape Of Good Hope is a place where you can spend an entire day exploring. We would suggest few hours because practically no one got that much time to spare at one place. You can take the tram to go to the Cape of Good Hope top for a 360 degree view. The entry fee is R303, details here. The ride to the top is extra.

Boulders Beach

Boulders beach is the home of jackass penguins. These little ones are cute and very interesting to see them in their natural habitat. Our suggestion would be buy the tickets to Boulders beach rather than the Penguin watching zone, because in Penguin watching zone there are nests so barricades all around. On the other hand in the beach you have chances of much closer encounter and sightings.

Muizenberg Beach

Muzeinberg beach is CapeTown’s one of the most instagrammed location. These colourful changing huts against the white sandy beach makes the best place to get some good pictures.

Lions Head Hiking

Lions Head

In Summer months you can go hiking Lion’s Head in Cape Town. It is one of the popular hikes in Cape Town, offering beautiful panoramic view of the city, ocean and Table Mountain.

V & A Waterfront

V & A Waterfront has many fine dine restaurants to explore. A little bit crowded, but can be a fun place to hangout in the evening. You can go on cruise from V & A Waterfront.
